Web 1.0 – 2.0 – 3.0
What does this really mean? This is a very short explanation:
web1.0: “You”
web 2.0: “Us”
web 3.0: “Me”
web 1.0 - Someone, the publisher, decides the content
Web2.0 - We create something together, I e there is a lot of focus on interactivity.
Web 2.0 sites are designed for interactivity, the user is in focus and can contribute to the content, view earlier published content, users can form communities and the dialog can take place by through several channels. Another important feature is that functions and solutions can be shared with other sites and services, so called “Mashups”. This will facilitate a business opportunity which travel companies can use by distributing its products, the clients actually contributes to the distribution and marketing and becomes part of the solution.
Web 3.0 – I control MY web, no one else does. Example; ”iGoogle”
Web 3.0 is characterized by the clients self controlling the information. iGoogle is a good example. The users actually decides what information to be easy accessible on their own site, what information to be available by e-mail, mobile etc. For travel companies it will be a question about making yourself easy accessible for those clients interested. They will need to market products and distribute offers with the new available technology, like feeds and gadgets etc., thus becoming part of the web the clients uses and trusts the most, namely their own applications.
To be on the forefront of this development the latest
technology is a must.
